Mt Warning hike with Merrimac and Benowa Kokoda Youth Challenge

The Branch Manager, Sergeant Linda Baade joined the Merrimac and Benowa Kokoda Youth Challenge Groups on a hike up Mount Warning today.  It was a pretty fast pace set by the teenagers who have been training for months for the Kokoda Youth Challenge, a 96km walk leaving Mudgeeraba on the 16th of July 2011.  The walk is 96km straight only stopping briefly for a quick meal, change of socks or call of nature.   This is an amazing effort by these young people and the adults who will be walking with the teams of four. They are creating memories that will last a lifetime and I commend them.

You have to admire their spirit as they still had energy to burn after walking the 4.4 km straight up the side of Mt Warning, as you can see here where they are pictured pole jumping.

I had a fantastic day and I look forward to cheering them on through the Kokoda Youth Challenge.
